Municipal Committee Founded
Under the British rule, Quetta was elevated to the position of municipal committee in October 1896.

After the creation of Pakistan, in 1981 the municipal committee quetta was upgraded to municipal corporation which was managed by the City District Government Quetta (CDGQ) as Chilton town and Zarghoon town.
Under the BGLA act 2010 the Government of Baluchistan discontinued the City District Government Quetta (CDGQ) declared it as Metropolitan Corporation Quetta (MCQ).
